Tarabya Tarabya, which is famous for the beauty of its crescent shaped bay, was a favorite residence for the Greeks of Fener and leading figures of Pera district of Istanbul. The Huber Mansion This beautiful house, which once was owned by Huber Brothers, the representatives of famous Mauser and Krupp weapon merchant companies, is one of the most attractive buildings of Bosphorus. After the departure of Huber Brothers, the Huber Mansion passed into hands of various rich and powerful figures of the Ottoman Empire. In 1985, after a total renovation work, the building started serving as a summer residence for the President of Turkish Republic. German Consulate Buildings In 1880, Sultan Abdulmecit presented beautiful gardens to Kaiser Wilhelm I for the construction of a summer residence. The building was constructed by architect Cingria who won the first price in a design competition. German Embasy buildings, which were captured by the Allies after the WW2, returned to Germany in very bad condition in 1952. Repaired and restored in 1955 and in 1990, the German Consulate Buildings returned to their former glory. Buyukdere Buyukdere, the Great Valley where the Bosphorus gets its widest span (3.5 kilometres) between Asia and European Continents was called Kalos Agros during the Byzantine era. One can easily see the entry of the Bosphorus form Buyukdere. It was in Buyukdere where the knights of the first Crusade camped before they crossed the Bosphorus strait in 1096, Sariyer Sariyer, which is the largest village in on the European side upper Bosphorus, is also principal fishing port of the strait. The town is famous for its fish market, fine sea food restaurants and for its pastry (borek).
