The second Court

Imperial Kitchens

Located on right wing of the second court, the imperial Kitchens houses one of the three greatest collections of the Chinese's Porcelains, surpassed only by Dresden and Pejing collections, Part of this 12.000 pieced collection is displayed in the former buildings of kitchens where over thousand cooks prepared meals for 5000 people on daily bases and for 12000 or even 15.000 people on the special occasions.

Divan, the Ottoman Parliament building, is located on the other side of the courtyard. It was there Ottoman viziers met on the certain days of the week to discuss about various matters of the empire.

The Divan

Facing to Imperial Kitchens and under the Justice tower, the domed rooms were used for the meeting of divan, Imperial Council of Ottoman empire. Here the Grand Vizier and chief administrators of the empire met during the first four days of the week to deal with the ongoing affair of the Empire.

The gate of Felicity

This beautiful gate witnessed empire's great events such as coronation ceremonies; riots which shake the power of Ottoman Dynasty; the launch of military campaigns which changed the course of the history. This gate, strictly guarded by the eunuchs, gave access to the third court, known as enderun.
