This fascinating museum which opened its doors to public in 1994 is one of the fine museums of city. The museum is located on the banks of Golden Horn and situated in an old anchor casting workshops which dates to the time of Ahmet II. Although it is suggested the building already existed as early as 12th century, we don't have great support for that theory. The building which had an important renovation during the time of Selim III was used by the Ministry of Finance up to 1951. After a serious fire which damaged t he building stayed in ruins till the happy end when Mr Rahmi Koc Foundation bought the structure and restored it to its former glory.

On the first floor of the museum, motors and stem engines are displayed. As to second floor, scientific instruments and communication apparatus are displayed. the entrance of the museum is reserved for the aircraft department, minting machinery fir printing coin and paper bank notes. This section of the museum also houses the ship engines, bycles and motobycles.

One of the most fascinating exhibits is the remains of the Hadleys Harem, an American airplane which was salvaged from the sea in 1995. this airplane which was one of the bombers of US air forces whose mission was bombing the refinery in Romania. But the aircraft was hit by an anti aircraft shell which killed one of the staff and wound the second.

Although their original plan was return to Benghazi in north Africa, they soon understood, this was not possible and they wanted to reach to Cyprus via Turkey. While flying over Anatolia, the engines stopped one by one. While they ere trying to land Manavgat region on the Mediterranean Coastline of Turkey, the aircraft hit the water and sank rapidly. The crew who survived reached to the coast by swimming. they were help by the peasant and sent to istanbul for healing.
