Located in Tophane district, Nusretiye mosque marks the great
difference in the Ottoman architecture. Instead of classical plan, we have Baroque
style mosque with onion shaped weight towers and fine slender minarets. This beautiful
mosque was built by Sultan Mahmut II after he liquidated the Janissary order and given this
unusual name "Victory".
