Asian side of Bosphorus

Kadikoy

Kadikoy which is the biggest town on Asian side of Istanbul was ancient Chalcedon which controlled the Asian side of Bosphorus. 4th Ecumenical Couincil met in 451 AD in Chalcedoin.

The Leanders Tower

This attractive tower which was built during the Byzantine area was used as a light house, custom office building and control tower for the heavy traffic of Bosphorus. Located on a small island Leander's Tower is known as Maiden's Tower because of a legend which is narrated often in various parts of Turkey. 

Uskudar

Uskudar, the oldest and most historical town on Asian Side of Istanbul was the starting point of all the military, commercial and religious roads. Not having strong walls like Constantinople, Uskudar or Golden city was always erased to ground by the enemy who failed to capture Contantinople. During the Ottoman centuries, while the Sultans built their mosques in the old city, Uskudar was embellished with impressive imperial mosques built by the queen mothers.

Camlica Hill

Camlica hills rising 267 meters above the sea level are ideal places to have the bird's eye wiev of city of Istanbul the Bosphorus. During the Byzantine centuries, great Camlica was used for sending and receiving signals. During the Ottoman centuries, Camlica became popular picnic place for people of Istanbul. In certain seasons, Camlica Hill attracts bird watchers from all over world.
