This was the site of oval shaped Roman Forum, established by
Emperor Contantine the Great who considered it as the center of his new city.
The forum was incirled by the coloumned porticos, temples, Senat houses and
churches. In the center of the Roman forum stood the coloumn of Conantine with
the statue of the emperor depicted like God Apollo. Emperor had a known with the
nais used for the crucifixion of Christ. The chapel which was locatede
underneath the coloumn contained some holy relics such as pieces of the holly
cross, the veil of veronika the hammer with which Moises built the Ark. Great
porry drums were bound together by metal rings as a precution againt eartquakes.
